Modeling of Needle Punched Nonwoven Structures to Analyse Porosity

This study introduces a parametric model for needle-punched nonwoven fabrics, created with Python scripts and visualized in TexGen software. The model effectively simulates the structural attributes of needle-punched fabrics, incorporating parameters like fiber diameter, orientation, thickness, and areal density. Validation via porosity tests confirms the model’s accuracy in replicating the intricate microstructure of nonwoven materials. Moreover, the model can be exported in .IGES format for finite element method (FEM) analysis, supporting further investigation of mechanical properties.
